What language are you currently learning?
I myself am currently learning Russian, and that’s honestly where my language journey began.
Growing up, I struggled in school and was placed in special education fairly early, so learning a second language wasn’t even something I was given the option to try at the time. But later in life I discovered Russian, and it ended up becoming something I genuinely enjoy learning.
It definitely has its challenges — especially when you’re trying to wrap your head around sounds like the mix between “J” and “Zh” that don’t really exist in English. But that challenge is part of what makes it fun.
I also love the alphabet. Some of the letters look like a strange mixture of Latin characters and mysterious symbols, and learning them feels like unlocking a whole new system of communication.
For me, the journey started with curiosity — and a connection to someone abroad that sparked the desire to dive deeper into the language.
Maybe something similar will happen for you.
